There are so many religions out in the world right now. Each religion holds specific days to be special. These special days are essentially due to the history that the religion has had.
Let’s take a look at some religious events and holidays that are coming up in 2018 and their significances.
Yom Kippur
First on our list we have a holiday called Yom Kippur. This is a Jewish holiday that takes place on September 18 of every year and ends on the following day.
This day is seen as one of, if not the most, holy day in the Jewish calendar. Throughout this day, people of Jewish faith engage in fasting and repenting. It is usually a holiday so Jewish people will refrain from going to work. In fact, to work on this day is not allowed.
Vijay Dashami
Next up we have a Hindu event called Vijay Dashami. The Vijay Dashami event is one that signifies and celebrates good winning over evil.
During this event, people of the Hindu faith will participate in processions. Throughout this procession, they will go to a body of water – like a river or an ocean – and carry the clay statues of the gods they believe in such as Durga, Lakshmi, Ganesha, and many more. All the while, they chant and sing.
Once there, they place the tablets into the water in order to dissolve them. This event takes place on October 19.
All Saints Day
Finally, we have All Saints day that happens on November 1. On this day, the Christian folk honor the saints that have lived throughout history.
These saints are people who have embodied the faith and have strived to live in holiness.
